About Me

Hi, I'm Jennifer.  For over 22 years, I have been the wife of Leacil Kirkes; I have been blessed with a kind, supportive, hard-working man who loves me (faults and all!).  Taylor (19) and Landon (15) are my sons who have helped me learn by experience that "children are a reward from the Lord." (Psalm 127:3)  I can't help wishing I would have had more!  I have been a stay-at-home mom for most all of their childhood, except for a part-time job with my church for a season.  My family is my greatest earthly treasure.  It's quite interesting being the only female in our home!  I am outnumbered for sure, but, as always God knows just what we need in our lives, and I needed them. My prayer is that I am loving them well, as I know I fall short often. Besides being a child of God and His lifelong disciple, my greatest purpose is to be a wife and mother.

As a wife, my heart has been that I strive to keep our marriage the relationship I cherish most on this earth.  I love Proverbs 31:11 which states, "her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value."  We truly share life together and all that entails (joys, tears, celebrations and disappointments), and we choose to do it together.  He loves the outdoors and I've learned to love it with him (just maybe not in exactly the same way, like say, hunting, and fishing in really hot weather...)  We find common ground quite often and enjoy that time together.  Our two very different personalities make for an interesting marriage; this has caused lots of changes in both of us!  We truly love each other, and for that, I am grateful.

As a mother, I have so enjoyed watching my sons grow!  I've had the great privilege to be present for their first words, first steps and first days of school.  One of the things I've loved most about being a mother is to tell them about Jesus' great love and purpose for them.  We are given such an overwhelming responsibility as parents, aren't we? Therefore, I have done some praying!  My desire is that we are raising some strong, kind-hearted young men with backbone--ones that exhibit a great balance of boldness and gentleness.  We are very proud of them!

Last, but not least, I love Jesus, His Word and being His disciple.  Without Jesus, I would have none of the above you just read about.  For more on the reason I began this blog, read this.
